Buxton World Semi Final 01/08/2010

The second of this years Semi Finals took place at Buxton Raceway, high in the peak district. The weather can be a bit 'changeable' up here but thankfully it stayed dry if a little overcast!

It was #1. Andy Smiths turn to fight for the World Final grid position this time.

Time for a wander round the pits before the racing started:
515 Frankie Wainman Jnr.

84 Tom Harris

53 John Lund

390 Stuart Smith Jnr.
#1 Andy's tar car, the off-set is really obvious in this shot.
The v8's line up ready for their race
398 Mark Tittcomb, really liked the look of this car.
259 Paul Hines on the parade lap.
84 Tom Harris.

#1 Andy Smith.
John Lund powering down the home straight.
Chaos at the first bend!

This man was unstoppable on the day....!
.... And won! with Paul Hines coming in second and John Lund third (much to the delight of the crowd everyone loves John Lund!)
The second place trophy on the Hines car with the man himself in the background
Stuart Smith Jnr, continued his spate of bad luck and didn't finish the semi and then wasn't seen for the rest of the meeting...

A very good meeting with its fair share of drama, Matt Smith one of the V8 drivers suffered a bad accident and had to be helicoptered to Sheffield hospital. Thankfully he is OK and on the road to recovery.
Oh, and Gordon Moodie F2 supremo playing to the crowd!
But the man of the day was #1 Andy Smith!
Thanks for looking, we didn't make Skeggy on the 5th of august and I won't be able to get to Coventry tomorrow, so my next update may be something a bit different!
See you soon.
